The following was submitted by Marge Sturm, which describes the ministry of Helen as our Peacemaker.
In her quiet ways, Helen Found spent her entire life acting as a peacemaker. While not actively involved in International conflict peace seeking efforts, Helen’s role as a peacemaker took a more local flavor. She actively supported the annual CROP walk, first as a walker and later by contributing to other’s walking efforts. She contributed regularly to the local food pantry by donating goods.
Helen was instrumental in organizing the annual Presbyterian Women Thank Offering services and making sure the Congregation was well aware of the many missions – (local, national, and international) that the thank offering supported. Helen was a gifted writer, and among the many things she authored was a book of prayers. While not directly writing about peace, these prayers certainly created and still create peace of mind to all who have read them.
Helen was the first to see a need and the first to act on those needs she saw. Several years ago she organized a clean up campaign for her local community township. When a member of the congregation or community became ill, it was Helen who organized a meal schedule to help them out.
Although these are only a new of the contributions Helen made during her lifetime, they represent much of what made her a peacemaker.
